The Ghanaian-German Economic Association (GGEA) is an alliance of Ghanaian and German companies, entrepreneurs, institutions. organisations and individuals with business and commercial interests in the two countries.

Founded in 1999, GGEA provides its members with various services such as delivering up-to-date information on economic, commercial and other bilateral issues, linking up with business partners, authorities and institutions and creating an active forum for a public-private dialogue. GGEA represents the entire spectrum of enterprises and institutions engaged in Ghanaian-German relations, ranging from small and medium-sized companies to the large German corporations and Ghanaian-German joint-ventures, including German and Ghanaian public institutions.

Contacts in Germany are chambers of commerce, trade fair organisers and public institutions responsible for foreign trade and investment promotion. GGEA also represents the Senior Experten Service (SES) in Ghana, providing short-term expert support to companies and institutions worldwide. We also represent Messe Frankfurt in Ghana.

The Afrika-Verein (German African Business Association), the largest German association of enterprises engaged on the African continent, which has over 100 years of experience in promoting business to and from Africa. Over 500 members including major German multinationals as well as many medium-sized companies represent the know-how pool for trade links with investment in African countries.

The Embassy of Ghana in Berlin offers useful information on tourism, investment and trade and related business information. They also provide information on consular services.

Our Vision

Our goal is to foster bilateral, economic and trade relations between Ghana and Germany, to promote investment and to improve the conditions for commercial activities in Ghana. As a fast-growing institution with a membership increase of 30% annually, a constantly expanding range of services and a strong support of Ghanaian and German institutions, we have a big potential for development.

Our Partners

GGEA has a well-established link to governmental and administrative bodies and other Economic Associations. The Association is working in close cooperation with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Accra, the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Centre for International Migration and Development (CIM).

Further partners in Ghana are the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and the Private Enterprise Federation (PEF). A close cooperation is also maintained with chambers of commerce and economic associations of other countries in Ghana.

The Board

The Board of the Association comprises strong and reputable individuals within the Ghanaian-German business community, representing the interest of its members in all affairs of bilateral and economic concern and designing the yearly programme for the Association.
