The McDan Group of Companies has been named as a major sponsor of the upcoming International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior World Tour Futures event which will be hosted in Ghana from Saturday, August 25, to September 1.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of McDan, Mr. Daniel McKorley, the decision to sponsor the event was motivated by his quest to see young Ghanaian players compete with the best from across the world.
“I want Ghana tennis to succeed and the junior tennis players to have hope, hence the need to support this international event,” Mr. McKorley said in an interview.
The ITF Grade 5 event is being organized by Tennis Foundation Ghana under the auspices of the Ghana Tennis Federation.
The President of Tennis Foundation Ghana, Mr. Roger Crawford, also expressed optimism and excitement about having the McDan Group on board.
He added that there was still room for other sponsors to be part of the historic event.
The ITF Junior Futures is the version of the professional tour. It gives aspiring players the opportunity to accumulate world ranking points to compete at Junior Grand Slams.
Meanwhile, feverish preparations and renovations are underway on the tennis courts of the Accra Sports Stadium ahead of the competition.
The renovation is being undertaken by Tennis Foundation Ghana (TFG) as part of preparations to host an International Tennis Federation Grade 5 Tournament in August
