Ecobank Ghana as part of its 10 years anniversary has promised to refurbish the computer laboratory of the South Labone Girls Technical Institute.
According to the Acting Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, Joana Mensah, the gesture is aimed at developing the digital skills of students to keep them abreast with the growing technological world.
The move is part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility to improve teaching and learning in South Labone Girls Technical Institute.
The donation forms part of the bank’s commitment to sponsor the school to facilitate effective learning and research.
In an interview, Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, Joana Mensah said the development of the digital skills of students remains critical.
“Basically, Ecobank, wants to support activities, the poor and also develop communities. So we are embarking on this corporate social responsibility.”
“We are here to donate some computers to the school, we’ll refurbish the computer labs and put in the computers to enhance the digital skills of students,” she mentioned.
The Principal of South Labone Girls Technical Institute and Shelter for Abuse Children, Gifty Tekpor thanked Ecobank for its timely support to the school.
The refurbished computer lab is expected to help students evolve and adapt to the ever-changing educational landscape by helping them access online educational materials as well as enhance their technological skills.
The school was urged to uphold a good maintenance culture to ensure that items provided would serve the intended purpose and also impact learning activities in the school over a long period.
